They are, for lack of a better word, the problem. They are a destructive force consuming the world, and they will never stop on their own. There will be no “wake-up call” for these powers. The path they’ve set is clear: as the world burns in the fires of war and climate collapse, the last of the billionaires will retreat to their sky-castles, clinging to their stolen wealth while the rest of humanity suffers. There is no gradual course correction on their agenda, only a determination to extend their pleasure cruise for as long as possible before moving on to the next bastion of privilege.
We cannot sit back and wait for rationality to prevail. It won’t. Science is ignored. International institutions are powerless. Fear and apathy have become the default, with most people content to follow laws, authority, and the voices of the powerful because that’s what they’ve been taught to do. We’ve bred a world of obedience when what we need is a world of leadership and courage.
If we wait for liberation, we will die waiting. This world isn’t ours to destroy—it belongs to our children. And each day that we hesitate, we betray them further. The shame and anger of this reality fuels my determination to resist. Yet, I know we cannot change the world with a single, decisive blow. Building a just world will never be as swift as tearing down an unjust one.
Change will begin with small acts of defiance. Grassroots movements must take to the streets, gradually informing and awakening more and more people. Courageous individuals will fight on multiple fronts, raising awareness of the crises we face. As this movement grows, the ruling class will feel threatened. They will crack down, revealing their true nature to the world—and that revelation will only strengthen our cause.
I am beginning to see the logic in accelerationism: we don’t have the luxury of time. We need to reach a critical mass for change, and slow, steady progress may not get us there. Something will have to happen that forces the hands of the powerful, exposing their corruption so thoroughly that it accelerates their downfall. Their own force will help dig their graves.
But even with urgency, it begins with those small acts of defiance. One act, at the right time and place, can ignite a cascade of change that cannot be stopped. We must try, and try, and try again—persistently, relentlessly.
We need to stop these bastards. That is my promise to my children.
