Why is this one-sided narrative so prevalent? Is it about money or power? Has Israel gained such a hold over the U.S., and in turn, the U.S. over the rest of the world, that this propaganda has become the norm? Or is it something else—fear of being labeled anti-Semitic, perhaps? Fear of appearing to support what has been branded as terrorism?
Let’s not forget the irony here. Nelson Mandela, a man now celebrated worldwide, was once labeled a terrorist for his resistance against apartheid in South Africa. Today, the same label is used to delegitimize Palestinian resistance. Even the Pope has openly referred to Israel’s actions as state terrorism and genocide. How does the Catholic world reconcile that with its silence or complicity?
The most common argument used by pro-Israel advocates is Israel’s “right to defend itself.” But doesn’t Palestine, by that very same logic, have the right to defend itself against Israel? When Israel started this conflict over 57 years ago, why was Palestine denied that right?
Why does one set of rules apply to Israel and an entirely different one to Palestine? How is this not hypocrisy of the highest order? And why are people so willing to buy into such a blatantly biased narrative without peeling back even the first layer?
We need to stop being content with the surface story, the one crafted for us by powers that benefit from our ignorance. The truth is out there, and it’s our responsibility to seek it, share it, and demand justice—not for one side, but for all those who have suffered.
This is not just about Palestine or Israel; it’s about challenging a system that normalizes oppression, excuses hypocrisy, and silences dissent. If we truly believe in justice, then we cannot afford to look away.
The point isn’t to condemn those who have been spoon-fed the propaganda of Israel and the U.S. Instead, we should focus on helping them see beyond it. We must keep talking, writing, protesting—revealing the truth to the world. This isn’t about judgment; it’s about caring enough to challenge the lies of murderers and thieves.
